A former "Saturday Night Live" performer will play a lead role in a new single-camera comedy project at ABC. Deadline.com reports that Jenny Slate has been cast in "Pulling," where she will have a lead role opposite June Diane Raphael.

"Pulling" is about three dysfunctional 30-something women who want to ignore how society tells them to live, the story says. Slate will play Karen, who appears to be a prim professional but lets loose in her off hours, according to the report.

The project comes from ABC Studios and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, and is written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky and directed by Jason Moore.

Deadline notes: “Raphael plays the leader of the trio, Donna, while the third role, Louise, opened up after Mandy Moore exited [Friday].”
