Syfy has ordered a new series from "Battlestar Galactica" executive producer Ron Moore. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the cable channel ordered 13 episodes of the thriller "Helix."
The series has a touch of "The Walking Dead" about it, as it focuses on scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to the Arctic to investigate a disease outbreak, the story says. They end up in a struggle that could lead either to humankind’s destruction or to its salvation.
The debut is slated for later this year, with casting and production to start soon.
The order comes after Syfy canceled "Alphas," and is looking to beef up its scripted shows, the piece adds.
