CBS has cast an actress known for her role in "Game of Thones" as a love interest in its Sherlock Holmes series "Elementary." EW.com’s Inside TV reports that Natalie Dormer, known for portraying Margaery Tyrell in "Game of Thones," will play Irene Adler in "Elementary."

Adler, a character who appeared in Arthur Conan Doyle’s Holmes mysteries, is often seen as a romantic interest for the famous detective.

Dormer will appear in a three-episode arc, with the character described as "perhaps the most pivotal relationship in Sherlock’s life," according a statement from creator Rob Doherty.

However, her death at the hands of Holmes’ arch-rival Moriarty has already been mentioned on the show.

"We’re moving to the next chapter in our show — and in some ways, to a previous chapter in Holmes’ story,” Doherty said.
