‘Game of Thrones’ Star Says She’s Broke

One of the stars of HBO’s wildly successful fantasy series “Game of Thrones” says she has less than $5 in her bank account. TMZ.com reports that actress Lena Headey, who plays the conniving Queen Cersei on "Thrones," says she’s counting on her tax refund to cover living expenses.

Headey made the statements about her financial situation in legal documents that were obtained by TMZ, the story says. She filed the documents in response to demands by her husband, Peter Loughran, for half of their $46,000 tax refund for 2011.

Headey filed for divorce from her husband last year, and is claiming she needs $6,000 from the refund right away because she’s living on credit to survive, the story says. She expects to receive acting income in the future, the piece adds.

The judge denied her husband’s emergency motion for half the money, while Headey’s proposal — which included giving $6,000 to Loughran — also got tossed, the story adds.

Now in its third season, “Game of Thrones” is one of the most popular series on television, with HBO estimating that season two had an average gross audience of 11.6 million viewers.
