‘It Will Revolutionize TV Forever’ Says Analyst, Who Reveals Truly Eye-Popping Details of New Apple TV Set. He Insists It Will Be Out Later This Year

Analyst Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets "believes that Apple will launch a full-blown television set in the later part of 2013 that promises to ‘revolutionize the TV experience forever,’ " reports Apple Insider.

The article says White "believes the ‘iTV’ will come with a ‘mini iTV’ screen that will allow users to view content on a smaller 9.7-inch display — the same diagonal screen size as a full-size iPad. He believes this secondary display could also be used for home security, phone calls, video conferencing and more.

The piece quotes White writing: "Essentially, we believe the ‘mini iTV’ screens will be able to capture content from the 60-inch ‘iTV’ across a distance of up to 200 meters, allowing a user to view ‘iTV’ content in the kitchen, washroom, garage, bedroom, backyard, etc. We believe Apple will offer one ‘mini iTV’ per ‘iTV,’ but package options will include up to four screens (i.e., one screen is part of the standard package and pay extra for each additional.)"

The report adds: "While this smaller screen will be of a similar shape to the iPad, it will have limited functionality and will not serve as an iPad replacement, the analyst said."

Apple Insider said White claims his information comes from "visits with Apple suppliers."

Besides the mini iTV, the article says White believes the new iTV will also come with an iRing that owners of the TV will use. "The ‘iRing’ accessory described by White is a new concept that has not been previously detailed in other reports," Apple Insider notes. "[White’s] visits with Apple suppliers suggested the ring will act as a ‘navigation pointer’ for the television, and will allow the TV set to enhance motion detection and replace some of the functionality found in a remote."

The article notes that White also speculates that the Apple iTV will range in size from 50 inches to 60 inches and cost somewhere between $1,500 and $2,000.

  1. YAWN

  2. Wow, what an amazing revolution…you can watch your screen on an iPad-type device, control it with a ring, and….wait, nevermind, this stuff just sounds ridiculous.

  3. I can already watch TV on an iPad, a Surface, a Kindle, etc…

  4. Why in the world would Apple produce a device that was “similar shape to the iPad, it will have limited functionality” just for the TV, when they already have the iPad which people seem more than willing to pay for separately?? Sorry, that just doesn’t fit Apple’s profit model.
Nor does naming EVERYTHING “iSomething”. The main product would probably be iTV or iScreen, but the individual accessories will have stupid names like SmartRing and MagicRemote.
The fact that this “insider analyst” is even suggesting these names just goes to show he’s not really much of an insider, and probably doesn’t know what the heck he’s talking about.
