Nancy Dubuc, who has had an amazingly successful period running various A+E networks — including Lifetime, the History Channel and A&E — has been named the company’s president and CEO. She replaces Abbe Raven, who moves up to become chairman of the company, which is a newly created post.

Dubuc will take over the day-to-day operations of the A+E Networks. Raven will be on the lookout for long-term business and revenue opportunities. The new positions start June 1. Dubuc is currently  president, entertainment and media, A+E Networks.

Anne Sweeney, who runs the Disney/ABC TV Group, and Steven Swartz, who is the president and CEO of Hearst Corp — and who are both on the A+E Networks’ board — said in a joint statement, "Abbe and Nancy have enjoyed one of the most successful partnerships in our business. Together, over the last several years, they have built some of the strongest brands in media. We look forward to the company’s next chapter as Abbe becomes chairman and Nancy steps into her expanded new role as president and CEO and leads the company into the future.”
