Billy Crystal is planning a return to television with a project that he will star in as well as co-write and executive produce along with "Burn Notice" creator Matt Nix, reports Deadline.com.

Larry Charles of "Borat" is directing, co-writing and executive producing, with Fox TV Studios producing. Nix is under an overall deal there.

While details about the premise aren’t known, it’s thought to be based on a European format and is said to be an edgy comedy.

The project marks a return to TV for Crystal, who appeared in "Soap," his own variety show and "Saturday Night Live" in the 1980s. Since then has worked on movies, although he hosted the Oscars on TV and directed and executive produced the HBO baseball movie "61*," the piece notes.
