Maria Shriver Returning to NBC

Maria Shriver is returning to NBC nearly a decade after she left the network when her husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger, ran for governor of California, reports The New York Times.

Shriver will return as a “special anchor,” appearing on a variety of NBC programs rather than focusing on one particular show, the story says. She will also produce and anchor prime-time special reports.

Shriver, who will focus on women’s issues, will be based in Los Angeles.

“I see it as a partnership that will evolve over time and give me an ongoing outlet for many of the stories I want to tell,” Shriver said. “Like so many women, I’m trying to craft a life that allows me to do meaningful work and keep a focus on my family, which will always be my No. 1 job.”

In addition to the broadcast network’s news programs, Shriver may appear on the cable networks MSNBC and CNBC, and on NBC Sports shows, the report notes. She will also hold the title of editor at large for women’s issues for NBC News’ websites, the piece adds.
