Two well-known actresses have been cast in FX’s “American Horror Story,” with Tony Award winner and Emmy nominee Patti LuPone and Oscar nominee Angela Bassett joining the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed.

The pair will join the third cycle of the show, which will have a witch theme and will be called "American Horror Story: Coven." The news was tweeted by showrunner and co-creator Ryan Murphy, who wrote, "Two legends are joining the cast of American Horror Story: Coven — Oscar nominee Angela Bassett and Tony winner Patti LuPone!"

It’s not yet known which parts the actresses will be playing.

Bassett, who received an Oscar nomination for her role as Tina Turner in "What’s Love Got to Do With it," received multiple pilot offers from broadcast networks this season, the story notes. LuPone won Tony Awards for her work in "Evita" and "Gypsy: A Musical Fable," and received a comedy Emmy nomination for her work on "Frasier," the piece adds.
