Daredevil Nik Wallenda walked across the Grand Canyon on live television Sunday, successfully traversing 1,400 feet across the canyon while also suspended 1,500 feet above its floor, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.

The event, “Skywire Live,” was a score for Discovery Channel, which benefited from online social-media mentions, notes Deadline.com. The feat generated 40,000 tweets per minute, and 1.5 million streams on Discovery.com.

Wallenda, known as "The King of the High Wire," said the winds were "a lot stronger than I expected," and at one point he had to take a pause, squatting to get his balance, THR notes. He also said he took time to admire the view of the Little Colorado River.

Toward the end of his walk, he thanked "Discovery Channel for believing in me" along with thanking network executives, and was chided by his father, who was helping guide him through the walk.

"Pay attention — you’re not there yet," his dad said.

After completing the walk, Wallenda said, "It took every bit of me to stay focused that entire time. My arms are aching like you wouldn’t believe."
