Hallmark Channel Cancels Show

Hallmark Channel announced it is canceling a show. Deadline.com reports that the cable channel confirmed it won’t be picking up a second season of "Marie."

Commenting on the cancellation of the talk show focused on singer Marie Osmond, Hallmark Channel said it wants to focus on "quintessential lifestyle service shows" instead of talk shows, the report notes.

Osmond’s show will now focus on searching for a syndication deal, with Associated Television International, the company behind "Marie," already talking with station groups for a fall 2014 launch, the story says. The plan previously was to broaden the show’s reach via a multiplatform strategy, the piece adds.

"’Marie,’ which marked Osmond’s return to daytime television, premiered on Hallmark last fall when it replaced ‘The Martha Stewart Show,’" the report adds. "Osmond recently has drawn attention for her stint as guest host on CBS’s ‘The Talk.’"
