"Deadwood" writer David Milch is poised for a return to HBO with a new project, with the pay-cable network close to giving the effort a green light, Deadline.com reports.

HBO executives Michael Lombardo and Richard Plepler talked about the project, which Milch is executive producing, during the network’s Television Critics Association session. The project is called "The Money."

“It’s a look at a dynastic New York media family, a look at power, the complexity of modern urban life, in a classic Milchian voice,” Plepler said.

Lombardo added that the script "may go into production soon and we’re talking casting."

Justin Chadwick is reportedly lined up to direct a potential pilot.
