Randy Travis Reportedly Improving; His Doctors Comment on Whether Drugs, Alcohol Contributed to His Health Problems

Randy Travis is improving as he deals with a serious health crisis, although the country superstar has been using a ventilator following heart problems and a stroke, reports TMZ.com.

His doctors at the Texas hospital where he’s being treated said they’re hopeful he will soon be breathing on his own. They added that his heart issues are not the result of drug or alcohol abuse. Instead, they say his health problems are probably attributable to a family history of cardiomyopathy, the story reports.

Travis was in critical condition last week following emergency surgery after he suffered a stroke while in the hospital, as previously reported. He was airlifted to the hospital July 8.
