Joan Rivers Goes Blue as Her War With the WGA Heats Up

Aug 5, 2013  •  Post A Comment

Joan Rivers is lashing out at the Writers Guild of America in her first public comment about the guild’s accusations against Rivers in connection with her E! Network show "Fashion Police," reports Variety.

"This is such a bunch of bullshit,” Rivers said in a statement Friday. “E! should hire Anthony Weiner to work with these people. He’d fit right in.”

The WGA East last week moved toward disciplining Rivers over alleged union rule violations for writing and acting as showrunner for the show, which isn’t under WGA jurisdiction, the story notes. Guild members aren’t allowed to work on non-union shows, the piece adds.

Writers for "Fashion Police" have been on strike since April 17 over union representation.

"The punishment could include Rivers becoming the first member ever expelled from the WGA East," the story adds.

The guild didn’t have immediate comment, the report notes.
