What kind of car was it, Don?

Now that Don Johnson has convinced us that he is not laundering money and wasn’t carrying $8 billion when he crossed the German border last November, let’s get to what’s really important. What kind of car was he in Europe to check out? After all, this was Sonny Crockett on Miami Vice, who drove a hot Ferrari, and Nash Bridges, who tooled around in a cool ’70 Plymouth Barracuda. It turns out he was headed to a Mercedes factory to inspect a Maybach, the high-end, extra-long, ultra-luxury car that began rolling out last spring with a price tag close to $400K each. Don’t blink. That includes a built-in DVD and a fridge. “Don likes cars,” says his PR rep, “but he didn’t end up buying one.”
