President, Sony Pictures Television
“Roger King is the quintessential salesman. He’s a character, a legend, and he loves what he does as much as anyone I know. Roger has this amazing capacity to be able to tell you what the market share of a station he sold to was 10 years ago, what the license fee of the show was, what the ratings were before and after they ran his show and every other minute detail of the deal. But he can’t remember something he told you five minutes ago. Still, when he’s your friend there’s no one more loyal.
“When CBS and Viacom merged with King World there was never a thought in our mind to change the distributor of `Wheel of Fortune’ or `Jeopardy!’ Not only is Roger one of the key reasons for those shows’ success, there are no better hands to put those shows in. It’s a cliche, I know, but after they made Roger they broke the mold. And it was a big mold at that.”
