Anime Network, which has been running as a VOD service, will launch Tuesday as a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week cable service on the Insight cable system in Columbus, Ohio. Insight has agreed to carry the Anime Network in its other markets by the end of the year. The channel also said it has made advertising deals with Atari, Nintendo and Capcom. The winner of Anime Network’s national “Launch the Network Sweepstakes,” Janine Hwang of Orlando, Fla., will become the first non-animated person to appear on the network as she flips the switch to begin the network’s linear broadcast.
