CNN Convention Coverage Adds Bloggers, Ditches Skybox

CNN will anchor the Democratic National Convention in Boston from the delegate floor rather than the traditional skybox, a presidential nomination convention first.

The announcement was made at the semi-annual Television Critics Association press tour. As part of its 12 hours of coverage CNN plans to cover comments made by Internet bloggers who this year have been issued presidential convention press credentials for the first time.

TCA reporters expressed skepticism, however, that the more intimate camera angle and blogger opinions would result in more lucid coverage than in years past.

“I think we’re curious about the blogs; it won’t be a very big part of our coverage,” explained Mr. Bohrman, who was appearing live via satellite from Boston. “If we can tap in only briefly to what the sense is out there, that’s not a bad thing.”
