EchoStar Communications announced Wednesday that Michael McDonnell, the company’s chief financial officer, has stepped down, effective Aug. 13.

According to an SEC filing, Mr. McDonnell quit for “personal reasons to relocate and take a position nearer to family on the East Coast.”

Mr. McDonnell joined EchoStar in August 2000 after serving 13 years in finance and accounting roles at accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he most recently served as engagement partner for companies in the tech and communications sectors.
