The latest consumer research from Leichtman Research Group finds that more than 3 percent of U.S. homes have a digital video recorder and 10 percent of all cable subscribers have used video-on-demand service. These figures are low, the research firm said, but are more than double the numbers reported a year ago. The study also found that 56 percent of digital cable subscribers say VOD is currently available in their area, up from 41 percent a year ago, while 45 percent of digital cable customers with VOD available say they have used it, up from 28 percent last year.
