‘Rescue Me’ Draws 4.1 Million Viewers

FX’s “Rescue Me” premiered Wednesday night as cable’s top-ranked show with 4.1 million total viewers and 2.5 million adults 18 to 49. The channel said the Denis Leary project earned the highest household rating of any original drama to debut on basic cable this year. The premiere episode was presented without commercial interruption by the Miller Brewing Co., a basic cable first. With a lead-in of the film “Independence Day,” FX was the highest-rated basic cable channel Wednesday night. FX has presented three of cable’s 10 highest-rated series premieres in total viewers and adults 18 to 49 with “The Shield,” “Rescue Me” and “Nip/Tuck.”
