Court TV Taps Fuse’s Juris as Programming/Marketing GM

Court TV has recruited Fuse President Marc Juris as general manager in charge of programming and marketing.

Mr. Juris brings a maverick attitude to the Court TV management roster. At the upstart Fuse music channel, he used cheeky, sometimes not-so-tasteful ads and ambush marketing to take on market leader MTV. While the approach left Fuse with little to show for itself in terms of Nielsen ratings, the network generated plenty of buzz, the admiration of the music industry and a surprisingly healthy flow of ad dollars.

Mr. Juris could shake up Court TV, which has been moving away from its dry daytime courtroom coverage image and embracing its increasingly entertainment-oriented prime time, which features real-life investigative shows such as “Forensic Files.”

Fuse is owned by Cablevision’s Rainbow Media, but will remain with Cablevision, reporting to James Dolan, after Rainbow is spun off into a separate company.
