Peter Guber’s Mandalay Entertainment and artist-management company Mosaic Media Group have joined forces to take control of Dick Clark Productions and use that company as a launchpad to develop reality series, half-hour shows and dramas.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but the deal involved Mandalay’s acquiring the Canadian assets of Dick Clark Productions and combining them with the controlling stake in the United States assets that Mosaic purchased more than two years ago.

Combined, the three entities will be known as Mandalay Mosaic Television Group. Allen Shapiro, president and partner of Mosaic, will manage the new company. Other Mosaic partners include Chuck Roven, Eric Gold and Jim Miller.

“We want to take the current resources of Dick Clark Productions and bring further resources to it to grow it out,” Mr. Guber told TelevisionWeek, adding that plans also call for Mandalay Mosaic to tap talent under Mosaic’s management to develop new programming.

That’s in addition to leveraging Dick Clark Productions franchises such as “The Golden Globe Awards” and “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” as well as the recently announced “American Bandstand” reprise.

Mr. Guber said already on the horizon is a sports talk show the company hopes to bring to the marketplace soon as well as a project with director Phillip Noyce. Other deals are to be announced in the coming months.
