Eurocinema Secures Carriage Deal

Eurocinema has secured initial cable carriage for an Aug. 15 launch of its international film on-demand offering. The VOD-only service will be available in 12 markets with three two-hour themed packages of European and international films rarely available in the United States, the company said. The two-hour blocks are priced at $3.99 each.

The service will launch with operators including Charter, Mediacom, RCN, Altrio and Insight and in markets including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, Fort Worth, Washington, St. Louis, Louisville, Ky., Des Moines, Iowa, and Allentown/Bethlehem/Lehigh Valley, Pa. New films will be added each month. The first three blocks include 2002 Cannes Winner “L’Ora di Religione: Il Sorriso di Mia Madre,” 1983 Cannes winner “Nostalghia” and Avignon/New York Film Festival winner “Gregoire Moulin contre L’humanit%E9;.”
