Madison Square Garden Networks and Time Warner Cable reached an interim agreement that returned MSG Network, Fox Sports Net New York, the MetroChannels and the three Fox Sports digital networks to their former channels late Wednesday afternoon on Time Warner Cable systems in the New York City area and upstate New York.

A statement from Time Warner Cable said neither company would have any further comment on the blackout, which started Aug. 1, when Madison Square Garden Networks owner Cablevision demanded that Time Warner Cable pull the channels after a prolonged dispute over carriage fees.

But the statement said, “The companies appreciate the efforts of Elliot Spitzer, New York state attorney general, for once again putting the citizens of New York first in helping to negotiate a difficult business matter. Both Time Warner Cable and MSG Networks will continue to work towards a new long-term agreement and appreciate Mr. Spitzer’s willingness to remain helpful in that process.”
