NBC’s Olympics Coverage Ratings Improve

The second night of Olympics competition on NBC Sunday night drew a 15.4 fast national Nielsen Media Research rating and 26 share, up 5 percent from Sydney’s 14.6/24 in 2000. Through Day 3, coverage of the 2004 Athens Olympics on NBC’s combined networks attracted 126 million total unique viewers, 11 percent more than Sydney’s 114 million through Day 3, making it the most viewed non-U.S. Olympics to date, according to Nielsen. Sunday’s coverage on the NBC networks attracted 91 million total viewers, 11 million ahead of the comparable Sunday from Sydney in 2000. NBC’s four cable channels (Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC and USA) attracted 16 million total viewers on Sunday and 23 million viewers through Day 3.
