The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Board of Governors has voted to honor Viacom with the prestigious Governor’s Award for the company’s multiple public service campaigns.

“Viacom’s overall commitment to public service through its endemic campaigns was quite an amazing feat and we congratulate them on this award, one of the academy’s highest honors,” said Dick Askin, chairman of the television academy.

Nickelodeon’s “Let’s Just Play,” MTV’s “Choose or Lose” and the Viacomwide “Know HIV/AIDS” are included in the campaigns being recognized. The honor will be presented Sept. 12 at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
