After recently airing a series of U.S.-based specials, Food Network will create a spinoff of its popular Japanese acquisition “Iron Chef,” the network announced Tuesday.
“Iron Chef America” will premiere in January and feature “Good Eats” chef Alton Brown as host, with Fine Living’s “Thirsty Traveler” Kevin Brauch giving play-by-play. Chefs Bobby Flay, Mario Batali and Masaharu Morimoto will compete against challengers.
Food Network has ordered 10 episodes of the new series. During the week of April 19 the network aired several “Iron Chef America” specials, which boosted the channel to a .8 household rating. Triage Entertainment will produce the show in conjunction with Food Network.
