Lifetime has ordered a pilot for a spinoff of its veteran medical drama “Strong Medicine,” sources said. “Strong Medicine: First Response” is billed as a more edgy and younger-skewing version of the original.

Lifetime recently ordered a sixth season of “Strong Medicine,” one of the longest-running scripted dramas on cable. The original is executive produced and created by Whoopi Goldberg and Tammy Adler for Sony Pictures Television. A Lifetime spokesperson would not comment on the pilot or whether the new show is from the same team.
