NBC’s animated comedy “Father of the Pride” and Fox’s reality series “Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy” won their respective time periods in the adults 18 to 49 demo, but CBS took Tuesday night in both adults 18 to 49 and total viewers.

According to Nielsen Media Research’s preliminary national ratings, CBS won the night with 10.18 million viewers and a prime-time average of 3.8/11 among adults 18 to 49 thanks to 8 p.m. drama “Navy NCIS” and reality offerings “Big Brother” and “Amazing Race 5.” NBC came in second for the night in viewers (8.30 million) and adults 18 to 49 (3.2/9) with reality offering “Last Comic Standing,” the original comedy block of “Father of the Pride” and “Scrubs,” and a repeat of “Law & Order: SVU.”

In the 9 p.m. half-hour, “Pride” tied the first half-hour of “Big Brother” in the adults 18 to 49 demo with a 4.0/11. The third episode of “Pride” was down 7 percent in the demo from last week (4.3/11), but that was still enough to beat Fox’s “The Next Great Champ” in the 9 p.m. half-hour in adults 18 to 49 (4.0/11 versus 2.3/6) and viewers (9.58 million versus 4.68 million).

“Champ” was up 4 percent in adults 18 to 49 from its premiere last week (2.3/6 versus 2.4/6), and grew from 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (2.3/6 to 2.6/7) in the demo. “Spouses” won its 8 p.m. time period in adults 18 to 49 (3.3/10) but came in third in total viewers (7.28 million) to “NCIS” (10.14 million) and ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (7.76 million).

CBS won the 10 p.m. hour in adults 18 to 49 with “Race” bringing in a 4.7/13. NBC edged out CBS at 10 p.m. in total viewers with its “SVU” repeat (10.35 million versus 10.26 million).
