The Radio-Television News Directors Association has secured speaking commitments from each of the Big 3 flagship anchors for its Edward R. Murrow Awards and RTNDA/Unity Awards dinner Oct. 4, including Tom Brokaw, who is ending his reign as “NBC Nightly News” anchor, as keynote speaker for the evening.

NBC News will pick up three awards at the dinner, including one for David Bloom’s coverage of the war in Iraq. Melanie Bloom will accept the award for her late husband.

In addition to speaking, “ABC World News Tonight” anchor Peter Jennings will see two broadcasts near and dear to his heart honored: “World News” in the newscast category and “The Kennedy Assassination: Beyond Conspiracy” in the documentary category.

Anchor Dan Rather’s “CBS Evening News” won the award for Overall Excellence.
