CBS announced Monday that former “Good Morning America” host Joan Lunden will host the upcoming reality series “Finding the Next Design Diva.” The series was announced in May and will be broadcast later this season.

Ms. Lunden was the longest-running co-host on early morning television, co-hosting “Good Morning America” from August 1980 through September 1997. Currently, she hosts and executive produces “Behind Closed Doors with Joan Lunden.”

“Design Diva” will be produced by LMNO Productions, which also produces “Behind Closed Doors.” Eric Schotz and Bill Paolantonio will executive produce.

The series will pit 12 people in a competition to find the country’s new authority on at-home living. Contestants will compete in various areas of home design, including gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, crafts, floral arranging and decorating. In addition to chronicling relationships that develop among the participants, the show each week will eliminate a contestant as candidates are judged on their flair for elegant living, party planning and expertise in homemaking.
