As part of a new Federal Communications Commission effort to promote the television industry’s transition to digital TV, FCC Chairman Michael Powell is slated to be interviewed by ABC Sports sideline reporter Michele Tafoya during halftime on the network’s “Monday Night Football” broadcast tonight. “I haven’t even done it yet, but it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever done,” Mr. Powell said. At a press briefing Monday morning, Mr. Powell said he is also planning a “satellite media tour” Friday to offer interviews to local TV stations on the DTV transition. In addition, Mr. Powell announced the creation of a new FCC Web site at www.dtv.gov to provide consumers with information related to the transition.
