Federal Communications Commission member Jonathan Adelstein was confirmed Saturday by the Senate for a new term at the agency good through June 30, 2008.
Without confirmation, Mr. Adelstein, one of two Democrats on the five-member panel, would have had to step down from the agency when Congress officially adjourns for the year. But with a last-second push from his former boss, outgoing Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., Mr. Adelstein won nomination from President Bush last week.
His confirmation was part of a massive package deal that included Bush administration judicial appointments.
