The family of NBC Universal Sports Chairman Dick Ebersol, who was injured in a plane crash Sunday that claimed the life of his son Teddy, 14, issued a statement Tuesday. Another son, Charlie, pulled his father from the burning wreckage.

“In the wake of this tragedy, we are touched by the overwhelming outpouring of love from people all over the world,” the statement said. “We will miss Teddy, our sweet boy, forever. … Teddy was a warm, loving, energetic young man. He had developed a wonderfully quirky sense of humor way beyond his years that kept the whole family laughing.”

The family added, “While our grief is unfathomable, we are so proud of our Charlie, who pulled his father from the flames. That anyone was able to survive this horrible accident is a miracle, and all of us will forever be inspired by Charlie’s courage and bravery.”

NBC said that both Mr. Ebersol and his son are in stable condition and are expected to make a full recovery. The network did not specify the nature of their injuries.

NBC Universal Chairman and CEO Bob Wright issued a statement that said, “Our hearts go out to Dick and Susan on their loss. Words cannot express the depth of a parent’s anguish when a child’s life is abruptly taken, and all of us at NBC Universal share their grief.”
