Lloyd Braun, the ABC executive ousted earlier this year on the eve of the 2004 Upfront amid flagging ratings at the network, has been tapped to manage online portal Yahoo!’s media and entertainment operations, Yahoo! announced Tuesday.

In the newly created position Mr. Braun will be responsible for Yahoo!’s movies, TV, entertainment, games, finance, news, weather, sports, health and children’s businesses. He starts Nov. 15 at Yahoo!’s Santa Monica, Calif., offices and reports to Yahoo! Chief Operating Officer Dan Rosenweig.

Before his departure from ABC, Mr. Braun served as chairman of ABC Entertainment Television Group from January 2002 to April 2004. Before that, he served as co-chairman of the group after having spent a year as chairman of Buena Vista Television Productions. Before arriving at ABC in 1998, Mr. Braun was president of Brillstein-Grey Entertainment, where he spent four years after having been a practicing lawyer for 11 years.
