Veteran rock star and songwriter Elton John is developing a single-camera comedy for ABC based on the life of an aging rocker and the entourage that surrounds him.

The Touchstone Television project is being produced by Mr. John, his business manager Bob Halley, songwriter Bruce Roberts, “Desperate Housewives” producer Michael Edelstein and “Sex and the City” writer Cindy Chupack.

Mr. Roberts will create a song catalog that reflects the fictitious rock star’s career, which spans several decades. The project has yet to be cast.

The project, which has a script commitment, could make it to air as early as fall 2005.
