Weiss Exits NBC Universal Television Distribution Company Divides Domestic and Intl. Marketing

Dan Weiss, executive VP of worldwide marketing, has left NBC Universal Television Distribution as part of what a company spokesman called a “restructuring” of the marketing department.

Mr. Weiss, who had been executive VP of worldwide marketing for Universal Television Distribution before NBC acquired Vivendi Universal’s U.S. entertainment assets, was put in charge of marketing for the newly formed NBC Universal Television Distribution in May.

The company will not make an outside hire to replace Mr. Weiss. Instead, his responsibilities will be split between current NBC Universal staffers: VPs Betsy Bergman and Mary Beth McAdaragh will oversee domestic marketing, while VP Pauline Bohm will oversee international. All three previously reported to Mr. Weiss.

Now Ms. Bergman and Ms. McAdaragh will report to Barry Wallach, president, NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution. Ms. Bohm will report to Belinda Menendez, president, NBC Universal International Television Distribution.

Before working at Universal, Mr. Weiss was senior VP of marketing and creative services for Carsey-Werner. He has also worked for Buena Vista Television and Fox. He began his career in NBC’s on-air promotions department.
