ABC announced Wednesday it is switching the time periods of its Thursday night shows “life as we know it” and “Extreme Makeover.” Beginning Thursday, Jan. 6, original episodes of the teen drama “life as we know it” will air at 8 p.m. (ET) and reality show “Extreme Makeover” will air at 9 p.m. (ET).

“Flipping ‘Extreme Makeover’ and ‘life as we know it’ should ultimately help both shows and our whole night,” said Jeff Bader, executive VP of ABC Entertainment. ‘Life as we know it’ will no longer have to air against two of the highest-rated programs on television, and this move to 8 p.m. will enable it to take advantage of the ‘Survivor’ hiatus in January. This shift also allows us to return to the combination of ‘Extreme Makeover’ and ‘primetime>live,’ which proved to be a very compatible two-hour block for us last season.”

“Life as we know it” is executive produced by Gabe Sachs, Jeff Judah and Stuart Bloomberg. The show is from Sachs-Judah Productions and (ca)bloom! in association with Touchstone Television.

“Extreme Makeover” is produced by New Screen Entertainment and Lighthearted Entertainment. Chuck Bangert, Lou Gorfain and Howard Schultz are the executive producers. Julie Laughlin is co-executive producer.
