Making it official, Federal Communications Commission Democratic member Jonathan Adelstein on Tuesday announced that he has been officially sworn in for a new term at the agency that runs through June 30, 2008.

Administering the oath in one of his last official acts as a lawmaker was Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., for whom Mr. Adelstein once worked. With Sen. Daschle’s support, Mr. Adelstein won an end-of-term nomination for the new term from President Bush. Sen. Daschle lost his bid for re-election and will depart when the new Congress convenes. “It was a special honor to have Sen. Daschle swear me in, after all the effort he undertook to make it possible,” Mr. Adelstein said in a statement.
