Holiday Specials Help CBS Take Week in Viewers, Adults 18 to 49

In a week featuring special holiday fare from “Frosty the Snowman” to “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” to the Rockefeller Center tree lighting, CBS maintained its No.1 position among total viewers and in the adults 18 to 49 demo.

CBS’s “CSI: Miami” was the top-rated show among adults 18 to 49, scoring an 8.6 rating, according to Nielsen Media Research. NBC’s Thursday night offerings “ER” (8.4) and “The Apprentice” (8.1) took the second and third position in the demo, followed by CBS’s latest installment of “Survivor” (7.2). Last week’s No.1 show in the demo, ABC’s Sunday night drama “Desperate Housewives,” was pre-empted by the TV movie “Mitch Albom’s The Five People You Meet in Heaven,” which was ranked 10 in adults 18 to 49 with a 6.2.

Among total viewers, “CSI” was ranked No. 1 with 24.67 million, followed by “CSI: Miami” (22.71 million), “Survivor” (19.48 million), CBS’s “Everybody Loves Raymond” (18.71 million) and “Mitch Albom’s The Five People You Meet in Heaven” (18.61 million).

The top-rated holiday special of the week was perennial favorite “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” coming in 14th for the week in the demo with a 5.2 rating and 15th in total viewers (14.93 million). ABC’s “Nick and Jessica’s Family Christmas” was ranked 15th in the demo with a 5.1 and 21st in total viewers (12.40 million).

CBS won the week in adults 18 to 49 with a 4.1, followed by NBC (3.9), ABC (3.7), Fox (2.7) and UPN and The WB (both 1.5).

CBS won in total viewers with 13.03 million, followed by ABC (10.44 million), NBC (10.37 million), Fox (6.36 million), UPN (3.58 million) and The WB (3.5 million).
