Sunday’s airing of “Unlocking DaVinci’s Code: The Full Story” broke ratings records for the National Geographic Channel.

Fueled by positive reviews, the two-hour special was watched by 1.3 million viewers — an all-time high for the network. The ratings landed the channel among the top 10 basic cable networks for the first time. A total of 4.1 million viewers watched at least part of the special. An encore presentation of “Unlocking DaVinci’s Code” will air Christmas Day.

National Geographic Channel celebrates its fourth anniversary next month. The channel has enjoyed two record-setting quarters in a row and this fall launched its first full slate of new series.
