A&E has won the bidding for rerun rights to the HBO hit “The Sopranos,” sources said today.
The network, which now carries “Growing Up Gotti,” about an unbelievable yet real-life mobster family, will get the fictional organized crime saga when its run ends on HBO in 2006.
A&E outbid TNT, which like HBO, is owned by Time Warner. Sources estimated that the bidding for “The Sopranos” exceeded $2.2 million per episode, making it the most expensive acquired drama ever.
