NAB’s Fritts Expected to Retire

Jan 31, 2005  •  Post A Comment

National Association of Broadcasters President and CEO Eddie Fritts is expected to announce his retirement within the next several weeks. NAB was not commenting Monday. But an industry source said Mr. Fritts would continue serving at the association pending the hire of his successor.

In the wake of a bitter fight between the association’s television and radio boards last year, Mr. Fritts–who was opposed by the TV board leadership but enthusiastically backed by the association’s radio board–won a new contract, good through April 2006, and a consulting deal that runs from 2006 to 2008. But now Mr. Fritts is expected to make clear his desire to retire by year’s end, assuming his successor is in place, a source said.
