Charter Executive Pushed Out

Charter Communications’ interim CEO Robert May began a management shakeup Thursday, eliminating the chief administrative officer position at the company and terminating the executive who had the job.

Steven Schumm, who held the title of executive VP and chief administrative officer, will leave the company Jan. 28, the company said in a filing submitted Thursday to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company offered no reason for the elimination of Mr. Schumm’s job.

Mr. Schumm, who has been with Charter since 1998 and served as interim chief financial officer from December 2002 to January 2004, is the first executive to be pushed out since Mr. May assumed the interim CEO role Jan. 18. Mr. May replaced Carl Vogel, who stepped down amid board dissatisfaction with Charter’s performance.
