Original installments of “The Big Idea With Donny Deutsch” join the CNBC weeknight lineup tonight, filling the 10 p.m. slot that proved inhospitable to John McEnroe. Among the new touches on the previously weekly hot topics/personalities show is a nightly segment, “The Big Noise,” in which the buff and brash ad man discusses pop culture issues with celebrity guests. Tonight “The View’s” Star Jones Reynolds and Donald Trump Jr. are scheduled to talk about the senior Trump’s wedding to Melania Knauss.

OSCAR Noms due

Nominations for the 77th Academy Awards will be announced Tuesday morning in Beverly Hills by Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences President Frank Pierson and Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody. The awards will be presented Feb. 27.

Directors DINNER

The 57th annual Directors Guild of America Awards ceremonial dinner honoring directorial achievement in film and television during 2004 will be Saturday evening at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

The Radio & Television News Association of Southern California presents the 55th annual Golden Mike Awards dinner, honoring achievement in local broadcast journalism, Saturday at the Universal Hilton in Universal City, Calif.

The grand experiment ABC News Now is set to leave the airwaves and cable operators’ digital tiers at 12:01 a.m. Jan. 29. However, the 24/7 news channel will continue to be available to tens of millions of subscribers via ABC News’ Web site, America Online, Yahoo!, RealNetworks and other outlets. ABC News President David Westin said the digital signal is going black to allow time to figure out a workable business plan for the service, including the degree of affiliate participation.
