NBC Wins Week in Adults 18 to 49; CBS Wins in Viewers

With help from its regular scheduled programming, the recently debuted drama “Medium” and the yearly telecast of the Golden Globes awards ceremony, NBC skated by CBS to win the week in adults 18 to 49. CBS was still able to win the top spot in total viewers.

ABC had the No. 1 show for the week ended Jan. 16 with its Sunday night drama “Desperate Housewives,” which scored an 11.1 rating in the demo, according to Nielsen Media Research. Fox’s Saturday NFC playoff game tied CBS’s “CSI” for second place at 9.6, followed by ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (9.0) and CBS’s overrun of the AFC divisional playoff game Sunday night (8.8).

Among total viewers, “CSI” took the top spot with 27.55 million, followed by “Housewives” (24.09 million), the NFC playoff game (23.70 million), the AFC overrun (23.63 million) and ABC’s “Lost” (20.81 million).

NBC won the week in adults 18 to 49 with a 4.5, followed by CBS (4.4), ABC and Fox (both 4.1), UPN (1.3) and The WB (1.1)

CBS won the week in total viewers with 13.92 million, followed by NBC (12.28 million), ABC (10.71 million), Fox (9.79 million), UPN (3.42 million), and The WB (2.76 million).
