CBS Wins Week in adults 18 to 49, Total Viewers

For the third week in a row CBS has taken the top spot in the adults 18 to 49 demographic and total viewers, but ABC walked away with the highest-rated program in both demos.

For the week ended April 10, ABC’s Sunday night drama “Desperate Housewives” was the top-rated program in adults 18 to 49 with an 11.1 rating, according to Nielsen Media Research. Fox’s Wednesday edition of “American Idol” came second with a 10.2, followed by Tuesday’s “Idol” with a 10.0. CBS took fourth place with Monday’s NCAA basketball championship game (8.7), while “Housewives” lead-out “Grey’s Anatomy” was fifth with a 7.5.

In total viewers “Housewives” garnered 25.55 million, followed by “Idol” Tuesday (24.45 million), “Idol” Wednesday (24.11 million), NCAA Basketball (23.90 million) and CBS’s “CSI”(22.58 million).

CBS won the week in adults 18 to 49 with a 3.8, followed by Fox (3.5), ABC (3.3), NBC (3.0), and the WB and UPN (both 1.2).

CBS came in No.1 in total viewers with 12.42 million, followed by ABC (9.02 million), Fox (8.38 million), NBC (8.34 million), UPN (3.06 million), and The WB (2.91 million).
