Congressional critics of media industry deregulation announced Tuesday the formation of a group to serve as a watchdog on legislative and regulatory efforts to overhaul the nation’s media policies.

The Future of American Media coalition, chaired by Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-N.Y., said its mission will be to “provide a venue where reasoned debate, expert analysis and diverse points of view can come together to address critical media policy issues.”

The caucus will be co-chaired by Rep. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Rep. David Price, D-N.C., Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Wash., Rep. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y.
