CBS Wins Week as Sweeps Nears End

CBS won the week ended May 22, the last full week of May sweeps, in both total viewers and adults 18 to 49 with help from the series finale of the sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond.” But ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” was the highest-rated show of the week in the advertiser-friendly 18 to 49 demo.

“Housewives” scored a 13.4 rating in the adults 18 to 49 demographic, according to Nielsen Media Research. The Wednesday edition of Fox’s “American Idol” scored an 11.8 in the demo, followed by “Raymond” (11.2), CBS’s “CSI” (10.6) and “Idol” Tuesday (10.4).

In total viewers, “Raymond” was on top with 32.9 million viewers, followed by “CSI” (30.7 million), “Housewives” (30.6 million), “Idol” Wednesday (27.9 million) and “Idol” Tuesday (25 million).

CBS scored a 4.4 in adults 18 to 49 for the week, followed by Fox (4.3), ABC (3.8), NBC (3.0), UPN (1.6) and The WB (1.5).

In total viewers CBS had 14.1 million, followed by Fox (10.2 million), ABC (9.9 million), NBC (8.8 million), The WB (3.7 million) and UPN (3.5 million).
